A Purple Heart recipient formerly from Butler County will be laid to rest this week.
John “Jack” Turner Jr. died last week after going into cardiac arrest. He was only 35 years old.
Turner graduated from Knoch High School and then joined the Air Force. He was deployed to Iraq three times to work with the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Program. He personally cleared more than 400 IEDs saving hundreds of lives.
He was awarded the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and several commendation medals.
Jack will be buried at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Pittsburgh.
