Officials are reminding residents that if you’re planning on beginning a digging project, you need to call 8-1-1.
Thursday marked National 8-1-1 Day (August 11th), and officials use the time to tell anybody planning on construction or excavation projects—you must call 811 three days prior to digging.
“We’re talking in some cases buried electric lines, telecommunication lines, waste water, water, natural gas lines, and cable,” PUC spokesman Nils Hagen-Frederikson said. “So nearly every type of utility system may be underground in your neighborhood.”
