Local residents planning to do some canning over the next few months are invited to take advantage of a service being offered later this week.
The Penn State Extension Butler County Office is holding a Dial Pressure Canner Gauge Testing Day on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Accurate pressure is important to making sure that all harmful bacteria is killed when canning foods.
This testing is available at no charge but appointments are required by contacting the Extension office at 724-287-4761.
Another pressure gauge testing day is planned for June 24th.
