A protest in Diamond Park started around 2pm on Sunday that involved some strong opinions but otherwise was peaceful.
A number of police officers were on hand. Diamond Park itself was closed so protesters were only to be on the sidewalks. Volunteer veterans also helped to protect the park entrances by not allowing anyone to cross through.
At one point in the evening, city police, over a loud speaker, indicated the event was ‘unlawful’ and protesters were asked to disburse. Officers then followed up that repeated request by forming a line and prompting protesters to leave as they pushed their line up Main Street, in the direction of the majority of protesters after there were many who did not leave immediately. At each intersection, traffic on Main Street was diverted and the police line would stop until they could safely move forward or they needed to continue to disburse the crowd.
There were some arrests, although we have not total at this time.
