The elections finally arrive one week from tomorrow and one website pledges to give you unbiased and independent information on all the state and federal races on your ballot.
Project Vote Smart was formed in the early 90s, with a fierce devotion to providing voters with nonpartisan information on the candidates asking for their vote.
From the presidential race down to the state legislatures, the website votesmart.org claims to have the information you need.
Adelaid Kimball is a founding board member.
“Vote smart is a national, nonpartisan political research organization that basically pulls together an independent resume for every candidate running for president, congress, governor and for state legislatures in every state,” Kimball said.
One feature on the vote smart website matches you up with candidates.
“It’s called ‘Vote Easy’ and you can answer issue questions and then see which candidates your responses match up with,” she said.
The group behind votesmart.org was formed by political opposites, including Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. That board balance continues to this day.
