Butler County residents will likely not see a tax increase next year.
The county commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a preliminary budget of about $65 million for 2019, which did not need a real estate tax hike to fund, according to county Budget and Human Services Finance Director Ann Brown.
The new budget reflects a roughly 1.5 percent spending increase over last year, which equates to about $750,000.
The Butler County Prison continues to be the largest operating expense for the county, at $12.4 million.
The budget has been posted on the county’s website for public viewing. The commissioners are expected to vote on a final version of the budget on Dec. 27.
