In local high school sports from Saturday:
- The Mars girls’ soccer team captured the PIAA Class AAA state championship, as they beat Villa Joseph Marie by a final of 1-0. Saturday’s state title is their first since 2011. The Fightin’ Planets finish the season with a 22-0-1 record.
- The North Catholic girls’ volleyball team beat Penn Liberty in the PIAA Class AA title game 3-2. The Trojans were also the WPIAL runners up this season.
- In the District-10 Class AAA football championship, Grove City fell to Sharon 33-21. Grove City finishes the season at 9-3 overall.
