The price for a stamp is expected to soon increase again.
The United States Postal Service has proposed a 4.8 percent increase for first class postage that would go into effect July 9th.
The cost of a forever stamp is proposed to go up by three cents, taking that amount from the current price of 63 cents to 66 cents.
The most recent increase in the price of a forever stamp from 60 to 63 cents occurred this past January. In early 2019, a first class stamp cost 50 cents.
USPS says that the frequent increases are needed to offset higher operating expenses. Final review and approval of this plan will come from the Postal Regulatory Commission, a federal regulator.
