The company planning to create a medical cannabis operation in the city of Butler has experience with all aspects of the process, which begins with growing the product.
“We’re going to be growing internally within this facility, so regardless of what the soil is composed of under this building, we’re going to be creating our own media within this enclosed, very impeccably controlled warehouse space,” Kayvan Khalatbari said.
Khalatbari is experienced with helping get medical marijuana processing and dispensing operations off the ground in 13 different states. He is also one of the principals involved with the local company, Cresco Yeltrah.
Another important issue regarding a proposed medical marijuana operation is security.
“We haven’t seen security concerns come to fruition in most states where medical cannabis is legal, especially on the east coast,” he said. “We are really restricted to some of the most robust security requirements you’re going to find on any facility in the state of Pennsylvania.”
Cresco Yeltrah has applied for a license to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The state is expected to award licenses later this month.
