A portion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed this weekend.
The road will shut down eastbound between the Allegheny Valley Exit 48 and the Pittsburgh Exit 57 interchanges beginning at 11:59 p.m. Saturday and continuing through 5 a.m. Sunday weather permitting.
Crews will use that time to safely erect bridge beams for a new bridge that will replace the Unity Trestle Road Bridge which carries traffic over the Turnpike in Plum Borough, Allegheny County.
Traffic will be detoured off the Turnpike during that time at the Allegheny Valley interchange onto Freeport Road to Route 910, Route 26, Interstate 579, I-376, and back on at the Pittsburgh interchange.
