Police are looking for the man who led them on a high speed chase Tuesday afternoon in Mercer County.
According to State Police, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Robert Elder of Sharon around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 79 northbound near milemarker 113 in Springfield Township.
At that point Elder sped up to over 100 miles per hour and drove off I-79 onto Interstate 80 east bound. He then drove north onto Route 173, turned onto East Gilmore Road, stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. He allegedly told his girlfriend, 29-year-old Lindsey Wolbert of Corsica, PA to continue driving.
Police eventually found her and the vehicle parked near a field in Worth Township, Mercer County. She was charged with possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Police are still searching for Elder but he will be charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police as well as reckless endangerment. Anyone with information about Elder’s whereabouts should call State Police Mercer Barracks.
