Our news partners at WPXI report that police saw shooter Thomas Crooks before the attempted assassination happened.
According to their reporting, multiple law enforcement sources say that Crooks was spotted by police at least a half hour before the shooting. He was seen by at least one officer with a range finder; police then called that into the command center.
Sheriff Mike Slupe said in an online post last night that his deputies “performed their duties at their assigned areas and went above and beyond after the shooting started.”
He added that the Sheriff’s Office is not in charge of other law enforcement entities, their staff or assignments.
It’s still not known who was responsible for overseeing the property by AGR.
