A heavy police presence is downtown Butler this morning following an alleged stabbing of a police officer.
Police were called to the area the 300 block of West Jefferson Street around 6:55 a.m. for a man who was reportedly yelling at traffic.
Witnesses say that man then allegedly stabbed the police officer with a knife, and that the officer fired shots.
The police officer was then taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
There is no word on any other injuries.
Police on scene said they would provide more details on the incident later today.
