A Rimersburg man is in jail after police say he attempted to shoot another Rimersburg man.
The alleged shooting happened early Tuesday on private property along Route 68 in Madison Township, Clarion County, near East Brady.
According to State Police, Dennis Reesman pointed a rifle at Donald Thorpe in an attempt to shoot him. Thorpe allegedly grabbed the rifle, causing it to discharge. It did not hit him but instead struck an object nearby.
A struggle between the two ensued, with Reesman eventually fleeing the scene.
Reesman was eventually arrested and placed in the Clarion County Jail on $500,000 bond.
It’s unclear what prompted the attempted shooting. Police are asking anyone who may have been driving by the area and witnessed some or all of this crime to contact them. Trooper Manns of the Pennsylvania State Police is handling the investigation. He can be reached at 814-226-1710.
Police say both of the men involved are white and in their 60s.
