Police are asking for help regarding a recent incident of vandalism at the Penn Theater.
Extensive spray painting of the screen, stage, walls, doors, and seats was discovered recently by employees of the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler.
It is not known exactly when the vandals entered the theater but some of the words and pictures that were painted have been observed other places around downtown Butler.
Authority employees have filed a police report and taken pictures of the damage. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Butler City Police Department.
The authority purchased the Theater through an agreement with the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation at a cost of $250,000. An additional $15,000 in interest is added yearly. The Authority has been unable to make payments through this agreement for eight years.
