The South Butler School District is dealing with another potential threat to the safety of students and staff.
In a letter to parents on Tuesday, Superintendent Dr. David Foley said school police were informed of a Snapchat post at the end of the school day on Tuesday, which was determined to be a potential threat.
Police identified the author of the message, informed the student’s parents, and reported the incident to State Police and the Butler County District Attorney.
Following an investigation, officials say the post did not pose a credible threat. However, the district will follow its discipline procedures in addressing the “inappropriate” post.
“As it always the case, the district is committed to a safe learning environment and will continue to be attentive to any issues that compromise safety and disrupt the learning process,” Foley said.
Last week, the South Butler school district operated on a “modified lockdown” twice as a result of threatening social media posts.
