A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly overdosing on heroin while pushing a baby stroller.
Charles Brookbank, 36, who has no known address, also allegedly pushed the stroller, with his 5-year-old son in it, down a 7-foot embankment because he was impaired.
Butler City Police arrested Brookbank Sunday afternoon on East Jefferson Street. An officer was called to the area after several people called 911 to report a man acting erratically.
According to a police criminal complaint, officers state Brookbank was “obviously impaired and had red, glassy eyes, was staggering and could not keep his eyes open.”
As officers arrived on scene, they observed Brookbank staggering over a 7-foot-high hill because he was overdosing, according to the complaint. “Brookbank fell on top of the stroller with the child inside and the stroller and the child rolled down the hill,” according to police.
Witnesses told police they saw Brookbank “snort a red bag of heroin.”
Brookbank was revived with the overdose-reversal drug Nalaxone before taken to jail. The 5-year-old boy appeared to be uninjured but was taken to the hospital to be checked out, before being released to his mother.
