A teen boy is facing a long list of charges following a bizarre incident that unfolded early Wednesday.
It happened just over the Butler County line at the Sheetz convenience store on West Main Street Ext. in Pine Township, Mercer County near Grove City.
State Police say a 15-year-old male escaped from George Junior Republic just after midnight, ran to a nearby Sheetz, and got in the back seat of a woman’s car. When the woman returned, she noticed the boy, who immediately got out of the vehicle and ‘charged’ the woman, according to a state police report.
The woman, who is 52-years-old from Carlton, ran into the Sheetz for help. Police say the boy followed her, eventually cornering her and demanding her car keys.
Sheetz employees were able to yell at the boy and scare him off.
He was eventually apprehended and will now face charges, including attempted robbery.
George Junior Republic is an all-boys home for at-risk youth. It’s located on George Junior Road in Grove City.
