Those planning on traveling this St. Patrick’s Day weekend should be aware of an effort to reduce impaired driving.
The Butler County District Attorney’s DUI Task Force will be conducting roving patrols and checkpoints starting Friday and continuing through next weekend. Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday, many celebrations will take place this Saturday.
The goal of this initiative is limit the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities in Butler County. PA’s legal alcohol limit is .08 for most drivers.

If you’re traveling into Pittsburgh to celebrate an early St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, you’re apparently heading to a good place.
WalletHub has ranked Pittsburgh as the fifth best city in the country when it comes to celebrating the Irish holiday. WalletHub says they looked at factors including Irish pubs and restaurants per capital, hotel prices, crime rates, DUI rates and more.
Pittsburgh ranked number 1 for the highest percentage of Irish population among the nation’s 100 largest cities.
To combat DUIs during Saturday’s celebrations and parade, free shuttle buses will be circulating along East Carson Street in Pittsburgh’s Southside.
Butler’s Reclamation Brewing Co. is touting itself as Butler’s St. Patrick’s Week Headquarters, with beer and food specials, live music and trivia beginning Wednesday (March 16) through Saturday (March 19).
