Just over 250 people participated in the 10th annual Parker Polar Bear Plunge last week.
The event, which happens on the afternoon of New Year’s Day, raised approximately $4,500 for local charities and non-profits.
Organizers say for this year’s event, temperatures outside of the Allegheny River were in the 30s. The water temperature, however, was at roughly 39 degrees.
Those making the plunge at the Parker City Boat Launch each donated at least $10 to the event.
