The owner of a plumbing franchise has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a trench collapse in Butler County that killed a 21-year-old man.
Wayne George of Beaver County- the owner of A Rooter Man of Pittsburgh- pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to violating OSHA regulations which caused the death of an employee.
According to a new release from acting U.S. Attorney Soo Song, it was late September 2015 when Jacob Casher of Clearfield County died in a trench collapse at a work site in Penn Township.
Casher was part of a crew relocating sewer lines for the Shelbourne Personal Care facility on Dinnerbell Road. Officials say Casher was working 11 feet below the surface in unstable soil with no cave-in protection, under the direction of his supervisor, Wayne George.
George will be sentenced in February. He could face up to six months in prison and a $250,000 fine.
