The Pittsburgh Symphony has gone on strike.
The musicians union and PSO management were unable to reach an agreement after management made it latest offer. It was a unanimous vote by the musicians to turn down the proposal that included a 15% pay cut and pension changes.
The musicians still do plan on offering a day of free music at various locations around Pittsburgh on October 4, although performances at Heinz Hall this weekend have been cancelled. That mean The Music of John Williams will not take place; which was a show that included music from movies like Superman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and Star Wars.
This is the 2nd time the organization has done so in its history.
