The Pittsburgh Pirates season opener has been moved up one day by Major League Baseball. The game was to be Monday, April 3rd instead of Tuesday, April 4th at PNC Park. The Pirates open the season against the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Pirates game will be featured as the first game of the new season on ESPN.
Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals was named the National League Most Valuable Player. Paul Goldschmidt of Arizona was the runner-up. Josh Donaldson won the American League award. Mike Trout of Los Angeles was the runner-up.
