The Pitt men’s basketball team will face Maryland tonight in their annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge game. Tip-off is 7pm in College Park, Maryland. Pitt enters the game 5-1 under new head coach Kevin Stallings. Maryland is off to a 7-0 start this season.
Four Pitt football players have been named to the ACC first team. Running back James Conner, kick returner Quadree Henderson, defensive end Ejaun Price and offensive guard Dorian Johnson were named All-ACC players. Henderson was also given an honorable mention at wide receiver.
Conner recovered from Hodgkin lymphoma to set the ACC record for career touchdowns this season with 56 and rushing touchdowns with 52. He had 20 total touchdowns this season in the ACC, second only to Heisman Trophy favorite Lamar Jackson, the quarterback at Lousville who has 21.
Pitt offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been announced as a finalist for the Broyles Award, given annually to the top assistant coach in college football.
The Penn State – Wisconsin Big Ten Championship game will kick-off at 8pm Saturday in Indianapolis. Hear the game on WBUT 1050am beginning with the pre-game at 6:30pm. Both teams enter the game 10-2 overall.
The Big Ten has reprimanded Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh for violating the league’s sportsmanship policy and fined Michigan $10,000. Harbaugh was critical of officials following the Wolverines overtime loss to Ohio State Saturday.
