- The Pitt Panthers came off a 66-63 loss to Virginia Tech heading into Saturday’s game against #17 ranked Florida State. Panthers coach Kevin Stallings said he wouldn’t have been surprised if the Panthers, “got hammered,” after citing two days of low energy at practice. Instead, Pitt was the one who brought the energy and blew out the Seminoles 80-66 at the Peterson Event Center. Panthers senior Sheldon Jeter dropped at season high 29 points. Jamel Artis, Michael Young, and Cameron Johnson all recorded double digit efforts as well.
- It took two overtime periods for West Virginia to put away the Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday afternoon 83-74. Jevon Carter led the Mountaineers with 24 points.
- Slippery Rock men’s basketball helped their playoff chances Saturday with a 71-67 win over Gannon University. Rock head coach Kevin Reynolds picked up his 100th career win at Morrow Field House, in the final home regular season game of the season. The Rock head into the final week of the season with road trips to Edinboro Wednesday and wrap up play at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday.
