The Pitt men’s basketball team defeated Wake Forest 77-72 last night in ACC play. The Panthers were down 10 points at halftime, and put together a 50-point run in the second half for the victory. They improved to 13-8 overall and 4-6 in the ACC. Pitt will host Notre Dame Saturday night.
The top two men’s teams in the nation escaped with victories last night. #1-ranked UConn defeated longtime Big East rivals Providence 74-65, while #2-ranked Purdue defeated Northwestern 105-96 in overtime. The Boilermakers became the first team in the nation to reach 20 wins this season and they avenged an early season loss to the Wildcats in their first Big Ten game of the year. The win also snapped a three-game losing streak in the series. Butler’s Ethan Morton played 21 minutes of the game off the bench for Purdue.
