Pitt had no answers yesterday when it came to stopping Navy’s triple option offense as they fell 44-28 in the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland.
Navy’s star senior QB Keenan Reynolds was unstoppable on the ground, and at times through the air. He rushed for 144 yards on 24 carries with three touchdowns. Reynolds now holds the NCAA’s all-time rushing touchdown record with 88.
Navy’s RB Connor Swain was almost as effective as Reynolds on the ground as he also hit triple digits with 114 yards on 27 carries. Navy rushed for 417 yards out of its 590 yards of total offense.
Pitt QB Nate Peterman was 13 for 21 for 137 yards, but had three interceptions. WR Tyler Boyd was held to 53 yards receiving, he did have 55 rushing yards however.
The 44 points the Panthers allowed was the most in a bowl game since USC dropped 47 on Pitt in the 1930 Rose Bowl.
Pitt finished the season at 8-5, meanwhile Navy, who was ranked 21st in the country coming into the game, finishes at 11-2.
