The Pitt Panthers lost to Northwestern 31-24 in the Pinstripe Bowl played at Yankee Stadium in New York City yesterday. The Panthers lost three offensive starters to injury during the game, including running back James Conner, quarterback Nate Peterman and offensive guard Dorian Johnson. Former Pine-Richland quarterback Ben DiNucci took over for Peterman, but was intercepted with just over a minute remaining in the game.
Miami defeated West Virginia 31-14 in the Russell Athletic Bowl last night. It was the first Hurricanes victory in a bowl game in 10 years.
Utah defeated Indiana 26-24 in the Foster Farms Bowl. Kansas State topped Texas A&M 33-28 in the Texas Bowl.
Two players have been suspended by Penn State and will not play in the Rose Bowl Monday. Wide receiver Saeed Blacknall and linebacker Manny Bowen are out for a violation of team rules. The Nittany Lions face Southern Cal Monday at 5pm.
Three bowl games will be played today: The Birmingham Bowl kicks-off at 2pm between South Carolina (6-6) and South Florida (10-2). The Belk Bowl matches Virginia Tech (9-4) against Arkansas (7-5) at 5:30pm. The Alamo Bowl begins at 9pm between Oklahoma State (9-3) and Colorado (10-3).
