The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-3 last night in Denver. The victory reduced the Pirates magic number to clinch a playoff spot to one. The Pirates scored all of their runs over the first four innings. Starling Marte, Francisco Cervelli and Josh Harrison had two hits each. Aramis Ramirez added a triple. Pirate starter J.A. Happ picked up his 10th win of the season. Happ pitched into the sixth inning, allowing three runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out eight.
