The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 12-10 Sunday night in Phoenix. The Pirates won the game in the 13th inning when Josh Harrison and Sean Rodriguez hit back-to-back doubles. The teams used so many players in the game, Jon Niese, who is a starting pitcher for the Pirates, drove in the final run with a pinch-hit single to left field in the final extra frame. The Pirates had 20 hits in the game. Starling Marte had four hits, David Freese and Gregory Polanco had three each. Neftali Feliz was the winning pitcher, despite allowing two runs in the 12th inning that extended the game. This came after Mark Melancon failed to close the game in the ninth inning, when he allowed two runs.
The Pirates are now 10-9 overall and begin a four-game series in Colorado tonight. First pitch is 8:40pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am begins at 8:15pm. Jeff Locke will start for the Bucs tonight.
