The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-9 last night at PNC Park. Josh Harrison had two hits and drove in three runs. Corey Dickerson had three hits and scored four times. Steven Brault earned the victory in relief of Trevor Williams. He was one of five relievers the Pirates used.
The Bucs and Dodgers complete their series today at 12:35pm. Jameson Taillon makes the start for the Pirates, who head to Chicago after the game.. The Pirates lost 8-7 in the afternoon matinee.
The Pirates picked up a game on the first-place Milwaukee Brewers, who lost their third game in a row last night. The Bucs are now 5-1/2 games back in the N.L. Central.
The Butler BlueSox lost to West Viginia 6-4 last night in the Prospect League. Sox starting pitcher Alex Stobert, a Knoch grad, allowed four earned runs on nine hits over 4-1/3rd innings. They fell to 2-5. They face the Miners again tonight.
After tonight, the BlueSox head to Springfield, Ohio to face the Champion City Kings to begin a two-game series Friday.
The Altoona Curve defeated the Reading Fighting Phils 4-0 last night in Altoona. Pirate pitching prospect Mitch Keller threw six scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and struck out eight.
