The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-1 Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field. The Pirates hit four home runs in the game. Outfielder Gregory Polanco hit two. Francisco Cervelli and Adam Frazier added round-trippers. Trevor Williams earned his third win of the season, allowing just one run on four hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out five.
The Pirates took two of three games in the series, improving their record to 9-3. The Pirates visit the Miami Marlins this weekend. Game time tonight is 7:10pm. Chad Kuhl will start for the Bucs.
The outfield prospect acquired in the Andrew McCutchen trade suffered a broken bone in his hand while swinging in a game last Sunday, and will need surgery today. 23-year old Bryan Reynolds is playing for Double-A affiliate Altoona.
