The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Atlanta Braves for the second straight night with a 2-1 “walk-off” victory at PNC Park. Bryan Reynolds drove in the winning run without a hit. Reynolds was walked with the bases loaded. It was one of three walks in the bottom of the ninth inning. Chad Kuhl allowed just one run on four hits over his six innings of work. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
The Bucs and Braves complete their three-game series this afternoon. First pitch is 12:35pm. WISR will join the broadcast following the Noon News. The Pirates will head to New York to begin a four-game series Thursday.
Two Pirates have been placed on the 10-day Injured List. Philip Evans suffered a concussion while sliding into third base during the opening game of the Atlanta series, and Gregory Polanco is dealing with hip inflammation. The Pirates have called up infielders Cole Tucker and Rodolfo Castro from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Altoona Curve pitcher Roansy Contreras has been placed on the Injured List with a sore forearm. He had been selected last week for the Futures Game next week as part of the All-Star festivities in Denver.
