The Pittsburgh Pirates won their opening game 4-1 over the St. Louis Cardinals. Pirate starter Francisco Liriano had 10 strikeouts. Gregory Polanco and David Freese each had two hits. The Bucs have today off and host the Cardinals Tuesday.
The Pirates made their final roster decision over the weekend, making Cole Figueroa their 25th man over Jason Rogers and Pedro Florimon.
