The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-2 last night at PNC Park. The Bucs scored the game-winning runs in the eighth inning handing the Cubs their eighth loss in a row. Chicago was officially eliminated from the post-season last night. Michael Feliz won the game in relief, and Keone Kela earned his first save of the year. Erik Gonzalez had three hits and drove in two runs. He currently has a nine-game hitting streak.
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 9-2 last night to clinch a National League Wild Card spot. The Brewers have also moved to within 1-1/2 games of the first-place St. Louis Cardinals.
The Bucs and Cubs complete their three-game series tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR is 6:40pm.
Rookie outfielder Bryan Reynolds left the game last night in the first inning with a hamstring injury.
