The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-3 in 10-innings Tuesday. Starling Marte hit a two-run home run in the 10th to win the game for the Bucs. Nick Kingham earned his first career save. Keone Kela picked up the win, despite allowing the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove allowed two runs over seven innings. He walked one and struck out six. Third baseman Jung Ho Kang hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. He had two hits in the game.
The Bucs improved to 9-6 overall. They visit the Tigers again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game is 6:15pm on WISR. Trevor Williams will go to the mound for the Pirates.
The Bucs remain 1-1/2 games behind first-place Milwaukee, who defeated St. Louis 8-4 last night.
