The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3 for the third consecutive victory. Chad Kuhl pitched seven innings for the Bucs, his longest major league start. Kuhl had allowed just one run through six innings before the Phils tagged him for two runs in the seventh inning to tie the game. The Pirate bats earned him the victory in the eighth inning following back-to-back doubles by Andrew McCutchen and Josh Bell. McCutchen had three hits int he game, Bell had two, and Gregory Polanco went 4-fo-4.
The Pirates improved to 40-46 overall and face the Chicago Cubs for three games beginning this afternoon at 2:20pm. WISR pre-game begins at 1:55pm. These are the final games prior to the All-Star break.
