The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles 4-0 Sunday afternoon. The victory avoided a series sweep by Baltimore. Mitch Keller pitched seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out 13. He did not walk a batter. Keller is now 5-1 with a 2.38 ERA over nine games.
The Bucs scored one run in the first inning and three in the third. It was the first game they have managed more than three runs in a game since April 29th.
The Pirates are off today, then visit the Detroit Tigers for two games beginning tomorrow night.
The Pirates are 1-1/2 games behind first-place Milwaukee. The Brewers completed a three-game series sweep over Kansas City Sunday.
