The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5 in 11-innings last night at PNC Park. Jordy Mercer had a walk-off hit, driving in Gregory Polanco, to win the game. Andrew McCutchen had three hits. Polanco drove in two runs and scored twice. Starting pitcher Jon Niese allowed four earned runs over five innings. He walked one and struck out seven. Kyle Lobstein won the game by pitching two scoreless innings and striking out three.
The Bucs and Card wrap up their series tonight at PNC Park. First pitch is 7:05pm. Hear the game on WISR 680am beginning at 6:40pm. Juan Nicasio will make his Pirates debut tonight against Mike Leake of the Cards.
The Pirates are off Thursday, and visit the Cincinnati Reds this weekend. Gerrit Cole, Francisco Liriano and Jeff Locke will be the Pirate starters for the weekend.
