The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 last night. Sean Rodriguez hit his 18th home run of the season and drove in three runs, Andrew McCutchen hit his 24th home run to lead the Bucs. Chad Kuhl pitched six strong innings, allowing just one run on five hits. He walked one and struck out six for his fifth victory of the season. Tony Watson earned his 15th save.
The Mets, Cardinals, Giants and Marlins all lost last night, allowing the Pirates to move to within 3-1/2 games of the National League Wild Card with 11 games remaining. They have won seven of their past nine games.
The Bucs and Brewers wrap up their series tonight at 8:10pm. Ryan Vogelsong will start for the Pirates. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 7:45pm.
The Pirates return home to host Washington Friday. (Then Chicago for four games before finishing the season in St. Louis).
