The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Yankees 2-1 Sunday at PNC Park and took two of three games in the series. Starting pitcher Ivan Nova picked up the win. He allowed one run on four hits over seven innings, walking one and striking out seven against his former team. Tony Watson earned his sixth save of the season. Josh Harrison, Gregory Polanco and Chris Stewart had two hits each for the Pirates.
The Pirates host the Chicago Cubs for three games beginning tonight. First pitch will be 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. Chad Kuhl will start for the Bucs tonight.
The Pirates are 8-10 overall and in last place of the National League Central Division, but just two games behind the first-place Cubs, who are 10-8.
