The Pittsburgh Pirates shut-out Tampa Bay 4-0 last night and took two of three games in their series with the Rays. Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison were a combined 5-for-5, with McCutchen getting three hits. Gregory Polanco added a home run, his sixth of the season. Jon Jaso also hit his sixth home run. Pirate starter Jameson Taillon pitched into the seventh inning and did not allow a run while scattering seven hits. His record improved to 4-2.
The Pirates host the San Francisco Giants tonight at 7:05pm, the first of three games. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates. Johnny Cueto will start for the Giants.
The Bucs remain four games behind first-place Milwaukee. They play their next seven games against Giants and Phillies, who have the two worst records in the National League.
