The Pittsburgh Pirates opened a four-game series with first-place Milwaukee last night at PNC Park with a 4-2 victory. Gregory Polanco had a career-high four hits in the game, and also threw a runner out at home plate. Catcher Francisco Cervelli added two more of the Pirates 13 hits in the game.
Last night’s victory puts the Pirates at 45-48 overall, three games under .500 and six behind the Brewers. They are 7-1/2 games back in the Wild Card chase.
The Bucs and Brewers meet again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. Ivan Nova starts for the Pirates seeking his 10th win of the season.
Former Pirate Sean Rodriguez played his first game of the season last night for Atlanta. Rodriguez signed with the Braves in the off-season as a free agent, and then was injured along with his family when a stolen police car rammed his vehicle in Miami.
The Butler BlueSox open a two-game series at home tonight against Chillicothe. The Sox host the two teams chasing them for second place over the next four days. Game time tonight is 6:35pm.
