The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-1 Thursday afternoon at PNC Park. The Pirates took two of three in the series. Chris Archer earned his third win of the season, allowing one run on six hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out six. Francisco Liriano and Felipe Vazquez did not allow a run over the final three innings.
Colin Moran hit his eighth home run of the season. Gregory Polanco hit his sixth home run and Josh Bell double three times. Bryan Reynolds had two hits, and now has a 14-game hitting streak. It is the second-longest hitting streak for a Pirates rookie since Neil Walker had an 18-game hitting streak in 2010.
The Pirates improved to 30-31 overall, and are four back in the National League Central. Chicago and Milwaukee remained tied for first place.
The Bucs begin a three-game series in Milwaukee tonight. Game time is 8:10pm. WISR pre-game is 7:45pm. Rookie Davis will make his first start for the Pirates tonight.
