The Cincinnati Reds completed a three-game series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 9-2 victory last night. Ivan Nova took the loss, allowing three earned runs on eight hits over six innings. David Freese had a home run among two hits. Andrew McCutchen also had two hits, including a double.
The Pirates stranded 25 runners on base in the series, and went 0-for-24 with runners in scoring position.
They were outscored 22-5 in the series.
The Pirates will play a make-up game with the Boston Red Sox this afternoon. Game time is 2:05pm. WISR will join the broadcast following “It’s Your Turn with Dave Malarkey.”
The Pirates begin a roadtrip in Chicago Friday before heading to St. Louis.
