The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the San Francisco Giants 5-3 Sunday at PNC Park. The Giants completed a three-game sweep, dropping the Pirates to 37-45 overall and six games back in the National League Central Division. Pirates starting pitcher Trevor Williams allowed three hits and two earned runs while pitching into the seventh inning, but the bullpen failed to hold the lead again. Pirates infielder Josh Harrison was the only player selected to represent the team at the July 11th All-Star game. It is Harrison’s second selection as an All-Star.
Pirate outfielder Starling Marte began a rehabilitation with Single-A Bradenton over the weekend. He has been suspended since mid-April for steroid use.
