The Arizona Diamondbacks completed a four-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 3-0 victory Sunday at PNC Park. The Pirates have now lost five games in a row, and have fallen five games under .500. They have fallen nine games behind first-place Milwaukee. The Pirates managed just five hits in the game, two of the hits were from Josh Bell. Trevor Williams took the loss. He allowed all three runs on five hits over six innings. Williams did not walk a batter and struck out six.
The Pirates begin a nine-game road trip tonight in New York, with the first three games against the Mets. Game time is 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:45pm. Jameson Taillon goes to the mound for the Pirates.
The Pirates had to call up catcher Jacob Stallings again from Indianapolis, after Francisco Cervelli was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.
The Pirates gave Sean Rodriguez his third start in a row Sunday. He went 0-3 with two strikeouts. Rodriguez is now batting .145 this season. He has struck out 48 times in 120 at-bats hits this season.
