The Pittsburgh Pirates swept their three-game series with the Boston Red Sox following a 4-1 victory Wednesday afternoon. Carlos Santana hit his first home run as a Pirate and had two hits. Andrew McCutchen added two hits as well. Mitch Keller earned the victory, pitching seven innings, allowing just the one run on four hits. He walked two and stuck out seven. Duane Underwood earned his first save of the season as the Bucs improved to 4-2.
Despite the win and the sweep, the Pirates were 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position Wednesday.
The Bucs are off today, then host the Chicago White Sox for their home opener Friday afternoon. First pitch is 4:12pm. Hear the game on WISR.
