The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a three-game series sweep of the Colorado Rockies following a 14-3 victory Wednesday afternoon in Denver. The Bucs had 18 hits in the game, led by Connor Joe and Jason Delay, who had three hits each. Andrew McCutchen hit his fourth home run of the year. Rodolfo Castro had his second home run and drove in four.
The Pirates had their ninth “quality start” in a row from a starting pitcher, their most since 10 in 2017. Johan Oviedo went six innings, allowing one run on three hits.
It was the second time in the series that the Pirates won by the score of 14-3. The 33 runs the Pirates scored in the series were the most since a series with the Chicago Cubs in September, 1975.
The Bucs open a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds tonight at PNC Park. First pitch is 6:35pm. WISR pre-game is 6:10pm. They are 12-7 in their first 19 games this season. The Reds have lost two straight, and are 7-11.
