The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Atlanta Braves 9-4 Thursday and split their four-game series. The Pirates had 13 hits in the game, and have accumulated 42 in their past three games. Francisco Cervelli had four hits, Josh Harrison had three. Adam Frazier drove in three runs.
Pirate starter Ivan Nova allowed 10 hits and four runs while pitching into the ninth inning. He allowed all of the runs in his final three innings.
The Bucs are now 22-26 overall and 4-games behind first-place Chicago in the National League Central. They begin a six-game home-stand tonight at PNC Park, with the first of three games against the New York Mets. Chad Kuhl will start for the Pirates. First pitch is 7:05pm.
